Hi, my name is Ann Sargent and I set up EAR4U in 2008 to support people affected by deafness.

9 million people in Britain today are deaf, therefore a lot of families are affected by deafness.

Deafness can be isolating, demoralising and frustrating. You can feel lost in a group of people, even those you know well, as you cannot keep up with the conversation.

Do you find yourself smiling, laughing, nodding at the same time as everyone else, hoping you are doing the right thing at the right time, even though you don’t know what you are smiling about as you didn’t hear what the person was saying?

If you have answered yes to this then this is the website for you!

Do you have a friend or family member who has not yet acknowledged their deafness? If so, please understand it is a frightening thing they are experiencing – let them know they are not alone – I'm here to support them.

EAR4U is based in Ruislip, where I run informal coffee meetings which are held on Monday mornings, between 10am and 1pm, for anyone wishing to drop in. Maybe just to have a chat or  find out information on how to improve your life with deafness.

I am also the secretary to the BAHA (Bone Anchored Hearing Aid) support group, at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital, Grays Inn Road, London, near Kings Cross Railway Station.

I am here for anyone experiencing problems with deafness or those who wish to share positive experiences with others, not just for those in the local area.
